Reimagining Public Safety: Challenging Narratives on Punishment & Incarceration

You are cordially invited to a session aimed at providing tools to effectively and strategically communicate to shift narratives about punishment and incarceration. Using values, affirmative stories and a solutions-oriented approach  to center discussions on alternatives to incarceration and re-entry. Communication newbies and pros can join for a dynamic and informative session for skills building and problem solving. 

This session will be led by Lucy Odigie-Turley who currently serves as the Editorial Director for the Data Driven Interventions team at The Center for Policing Equity (CPE). Before joining CPE, Lucy was the Director of Research at The Opportunity Agenda, a social justice communications lab based in New York City. As the Director of Research, Lucy led the organization's communications research strategy and activities, including the assessment of public opinion, news media coverage, online media discourse, and popular culture as it related to organizational initiatives and mission. In her time at the organization, her research was featured in Forbes, The Hollywood Reporter, The Guardian, LA Weekly, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.  Lucy holds a Ph.D. in Communication from American University, an M.A. from New York University in Africana Studies with a concentration in Global Journalism, and a B.A. in English from Queen Mary, University of London.
