The CSG Justice Center found that of the 29 states that reported crime data to the FBI in 2021, crime went down in 25 and up in 4 since 2019. Even though many states didn't provide data to the FBI, the tool includes a data dashboard for every state using available information. That's because we know that trends in crime can vary quite a bit from state to state, and governors and state legislators need the facts about their own states to craft effective crime reduction and deterrence plans.
