This workshop will highlight two lenses that are effective tools to tackle racial inequities in the criminal justice system: (a) understanding of the historically rooted, racially unjust underpinnings of the CJS system via implicit and structural racialization and (b) fostering strong researcher-practitioner partnerships that aims to use empirical knowledge to drive change. What has been found in research on racial disparities in the CJS? What will SJC stakeholders highlight as lessons learned? How have practitioners participating in the work of the SJC used data and recommendations from research partners to understand and start overcoming obstacles in implementing racially just policies?
