RE: All Sites Meeting - Managing Relationships in a Collaborative Change Process

10-18-2018 03:28 PM

"Managing Relationships in a Collaborative Change Process" was designed with the understanding that the biggest challenges to successfully carrying out the work of the SJC can sometimes come from within. We know that progress can only be as sustainable as the collaboration behind it. This experience will provide insights from some of the most experienced project directors in the SJC network and is intended to help participants collectively think through their challenges in working with agency partners to implement reforms. First, panelists from Palm Beach County, Philadelphia County, and Cook County will provide an overview of their own collaborative structures and the lessons they've learned while working through them. Then, attendees will be asked to discuss their own experiences in smaller groups. Participants will then have the opportunity to share their experiences, what they've learned from talking to representatives from other jurisdictions, and seek feedback from the three panelists in a moderated discussion format.

 Highlights included:

  • Make each meeting meaningful
  • Have dedicated staff at the meetings – to drive initiative forward
  • Highlight areas of agreement
  • Build consensus around disagreements
  • Use trusted allies to build support
  • Do periodic check-ins to gauge attitudes
