Podcast on Compensation for Wrongfully Convicted

The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys participated in a podcast about Compensation for the Wrongfully Imprisoned hosted by the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies on Friday, July 7th.


African Americans are only 13% of the American population, but are the majority of innocent defendants wrongfully convicted of crimes and later exonerated.  According to the National Registry of Exonerations, African Americans constituted 47% of the 2,062 people who have been exonerated since 1989. Some states have statutes that provide compensation under some circumstances to such individuals, but the scope of those statutes and their applicability varies, with other states providing no means of compensation at all.   APA President David LaBahn recently took part in a podcast discussing compensation…here’s a link to the podcast:
