County Funding Opportunities to Support Community Members Experiencing a Behavioral Health Crisis (NACO, 2023)

02-22-2023 08:48 AM

NACo, in partnership with the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors (NACBHDD), is excited to announce the release of a new resource - County Funding Opportunities to Support Community Members Experiencing a Behavioral Health Crisis. The chart outlines federal, state, local and non-government resources that counties can leverage to fund elements of the behavioral health continuum of care. Where available, we include county examples to demonstrate how the funding has been used to support programs that offer someone to contact, someone to respond and somewhere safe to go.

Below, please find a brief description of the resource. Please feel free to share this resource with colleagues and peers and do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss further.

County Funding Opportunities to Support Community Members Experiencing a Behavioral Health Crisis

  • County and local officials play a critical role in funding, implementing and coordinating a local continuum of care to support people during a behavioral health crisis. To inform local decision making, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Directors (NACBHDD) developed a chart of funding opportunities across federal, state and county governments and non-government sectors. Counties can blend and braid these resources to build a robust, accessible and sustainable behavioral health crisis continuum of care. Explore the chart here.
