The Mecklenburg County Criminal Justice Community Engagement Task Group is a leading model for community-centered justice reform. Through an interview with Chandra Tyler, Safety and Justice Challenge Equity Inclusion Consultant, viewers learn how this 12-member group has strengthened the relationship between residents and criminal justice stakeholders since 2021. The Task Group includes people with direct justice system experience, provides policy recommendations to county officials, conducts community education programs, and participates in key criminal justice planning.
