Hello all,
I'm excited to announce the new Institute for Justice Policy Implementation, a collaboration between New York Law School and the Center for Justice Innovation.
Every major justice reform is a hard-fought win. But a policy victory is one thing; making a sweeping new approach work on the ground requires a separate and sustained effort unto itself, and the history of reform is littered with policy victories that died on the vine of implementation. Preparing for-and monitoring over the long haul-how a policy change translates into practice, is too often overlooked.
Confronting this problem head-on through targeted jurisdictional working sessions, national roundtables, and a range of products for policymakers and practitioners, the Institute will cultivate an urgent focus on how local and national justice policy initiatives can effectively stick the landing of implementation.
The Institute is a natural outgrowth of a multidisciplinary conference that the Center for Justice Innovation and New York Law School sponsored in close partnership with RxStat, which is documented in our new publication: Implementing Harm Reduction Principles in Court-Based TreatmentWe are grateful to Anthony Crowell, Dean and President of New York Law School, and Courtney Bryan, Executive Director of the Center for Justice Innovation, for their visionary leadership in support of this new partnership.
