We're excited to announce a new resource from one of PRI's sister TA centers, SAMHSA's SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR). SOAR is a model designed to increase access to disability income benefits for individuals who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Over the last 18 years, the SOAR approach has been used to assist over 105,000 people who were experiencing or at risk of homelessness to apply for Social Security's disability programs,.

Of the applications assisted using SOAR, 65%, representing 56,481 persons, have been approved for SSI/SSDI upon initial application since SOAR began! An additional 8,891 persons, whose applications were denied initially, were approved on reconsideration or appeal. The model has success rates far above non-SOAR application processes and features free online courses.
A new infographic, Integrating SOAR within the Sequential Intercept Model, illustrates how SOAR providers can use the SIM to divert individuals from the legal system and plan successful reentry. Download the infographic and learn more here!
