Jails & Prisons Webinar Training for Strengthening Health and Reentry Operations

07-14-2025 12:34 PM

Jails and prisons face operational challenges to deliver services that improve reentry outcomes while managing variable health care costs and needs. To support jails and prisons in navigating this landscape, the Health and Reentry Project (HARP) offered a virtual training to hear from state and local leaders on their efforts to improve reentry outcomes through operations-responsive partnerships and new approaches to pre-release enrollment and continuity of care. This discussion will highlighted how state departments of correction, state prison facilities, and jails can seek technical assistance in implementing successful reentry and health operational practices to reduce crime and recidivism. HARP hosted a conversation about challenges in health and reentry and to learn more about improving health and reentry systems. Attendees heard from St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne and South Dakota Secretary of Corrections Kellie Wasko on their respective health and reentry approaches.
