County elected officials play a critical role in advocating for the development of local behavioral health systems of care. With oversight of key policy and funding decisions, elected officials can cultivate momentum for a comprehensive and sustainable continuum of care for their communities. To aid this work, the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disability Director (NACBHDD) created a messaging brief for county elected officials to explore different strategies to advance behavioral health care through policy, funding, and community-based solutions. This brief also offers community members and stakeholders a framework for understanding and engaging with local leaders. Learn more here.
