The Brennan Center for Justice is happy to share Misdemeanor Enforcement Trends in New York City, 2016–2022: Diminished Caseloads and Persistent Racial Disparities. To accompany the report, the team created an interactive tool that allows users to further explore their findings, along with a Spanish version here. The report also has a companion piece, Improving Misdemeanor Enforcement, about current initiatives in New York City that hold the promise of addressing persistent racial disparities in enforcement. Finally, co-authors, Dr. Josy Hahn and Tiffany Sanabia have published an online brief, Why Inclusive Criminal Justice Research Matters. Many thanks to the MacArthur Foundation for their generous support of this project.
