Widespread calls for racial equity in the criminal legal system, as well as the needs that public defender clients have in and tangential to their criminal case, make it critical for defenders to engage with their communities to build trust and collaborate on delivery of services. In this session, SJC public defenders will discuss innovative pathways and best practices to initiate or expand community partnerships, e.g., through social service providers, community-driven policy agendas, and client feedback.
