Counties are undertaking innovative approaches to reduce the overuse and misuse of local criminal justice systems and direct resources to programs, practices and policies that best serve community members. These initiatives may begin with time-limited resources such as grant or state funding, and more recently, federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars. This workshop provides an opportunity to learn about strategies to incorporate successful practices into local government budgets, opportunities to plan for long-term resources and approaches to crafting a narrative that sustains momentum.
