In 2020, the New York City Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice launched an ambitious new initiative, Atlas, to provide services and support to individuals released pretrial without any mandated conditions. A truly voluntary, community-centered initiative not tied to case outcomes or court reporting, Atlas has sought to innovate in two key program areas: outreach and engagement. This panel will examine how MOCJ has worked with program partners to develop strategies to identify and connect eligible participants to community-based services and turned Atlas into a potential national model.
